PhaseOne Dance signed a three-year lease on a studio at 1218 NW Marshall St., giving Northwest Portland a dedicated Hip Hop dance space.
The studio offers drop-in classes in Hip Hop, choreography and street styles for ages 16 and up. Classes run Monday through Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays starting at noon. The studio is also home to FreshVibe Dance Crew.
At a Monday evening beginner class, instructor Stephen Goodly walked students through classic Hip Hop steps including the Bart Simpson and the ATL stomp, the Northwest Examiner reported. Classes move from beginning foundations to advanced.
The 1,300-square-foot studio sits in a stretch of NW Portland lined with shops, restaurants and nightlife. PhaseOne also plans monthly weekend workshops and weekly guest instructors, according to the studio's website.
A Saturday, Oct. 17, workshop at the studio runs from noon to 1 p.m. and costs $20. Space is limited. Classes are bookable through the MindBody app.
