Sonia A. Montalbano is seeking Multnomah County Circuit Court, District 4, Position 6, on November 3, 2026. The official ballot lists her as the sole named candidate for a six-year term.

Background and priorities

Montalbano identifies herself as the current circuit judge. Gov. Tina Kotek’s August 3, 2026, appointment announcement says she filled the vacancy left by Judge Leslie B. Bottomly’s resignation.

Her statement lists earlier legal work at McKean Smith and other firms, a 1996 law degree from Lewis & Clark and a 1992 bachelor’s from Hunter College.

She describes more than 25 years of practice in employment and business law, civil and criminal litigation, and appellate and regulatory work. She lists Oregon State Bar House of Delegates service, legal reference book contributions and continuing education.

Montalbano says she wants a courtroom where people are heard, treated with dignity and understand the process. She emphasizes access to justice and judicial integrity.

The background and positions above come from the candidate’s own statement in the official November 2026 voters’ pamphlet (page 61). Election officials publish candidate statements as submitted and do not verify their claims.
