Alberta Donut Cafe is building out a storefront at 2805 NE Alberta St., filling a space that sat empty after donut shops Angel's and Tonalli's closed.
The cafe plans to open in fall 2026, Bridgetown Bites reported Tuesday, Sept. 8.
The business describes its offerings as "craft donuts + specialty coffee," and permit filings show equipment for ice cream production as well.
Thomas Angel and Nicole Nang Ly are listed as tenants on the space. La Sirenita, the family-run Mexican restaurant at 2817 NE Alberta St., owns the property, according to Bridgetown Bites.
La Sirenita has operated next door for 25 years, was founded by Jose and is now run by the third generation of the family, according to the restaurant's website.
Angel is not related to the former Angel's Donuts. The Del Campo family ran both Angel's and Tonalli's, the previous tenants at the address.
Buildout permits
City permit records show a string of filings tied to the project in 2026. A commercial building permit for a business addition was set up March 3, followed by a plumbing permit July 8, an electrical permit July 9, a fire systems permit July 21 and a mechanical permit Aug. 19.
The July 9 electrical permit describes a "doughnut shop remodel with new panel and appliances." Equipment listed includes an espresso machine, a 60-quart mixer, a 20-quart mixer, a proofer, a glazer and a jelly filler. The permit also lists a sheeter, an ice cream maker, an oven, a dishwasher, a doughnut display case and a batch-brew coffee setup.
The broader scope of work covers new kitchen equipment, sinks, floor drains and concrete flooring in the back of house. The front of house gets new service counters, wall finishes and doors. A new exterior "marquee" overhang with signage will go above the south entrance, and the restroom is being upgraded to meet ADA standards.
27-seat layout
Studio Eccos Architecture designed the floor plan. It shows roughly 27 seats arranged as two-tops, four-tops and window stools.
TikTok videos posted by the business show interior construction debris, consistent with active renovation work.
No specific opening date has been announced beyond fall 2026. Residents can follow construction progress on Instagram and TikTok at @albertadonutcafe.
