A 2 hour long hands-on DJ workshop hits a Multnomah County Library branch on Monday, Sept. 14, giving Portland residents a walk-in introduction to the turntables.

The DJ Skills for Beginners program covers equipment and technique, according to the library's event page. Seats are first come, first served.

It begins at 3:30 p.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. with additional sesions on Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Oct. 8, Oct. 11, Oct. 12, Oct. 13, Oct. 22 and several dates all throughout November.

The workshop is funded by The Library Foundation, a nonprofit that supports Multnomah County Library. It fits into a broader music education lineup across the system, including the Albina Music Club drop-in program and an Audio Production Drop-In with EXT.606 at the East County Library in Gresham for ages 13 and up.

DJ Jumbo, a music producer originally from Northeast Portland and a member of the hip-hop group Lifesavas, performed at the East County Library's grand opening in May.
