Kevin Love is bringing his name back to his hometown in a new way. The five-time NBA All-Star and 2016 champion is backing The Alley, a trading card shop opening July 16, in Lake Oswego.

Love's older brother Collin is one of three co-founders behind the venture, alongside Samuel Soong and Darick Dang. All three are Oregon locals, according to a press release reported by the Portland Tribune on Tuesday, July 14.

"Lake Oswego will always be home for me, so seeing my brother and his partners bring something like The Alley to the community is really special," Love said in the release. "Trading cards have a way of connecting generations — parents, kids, athletes, fans and collectors — and I'm proud to support a space that brings people together around that shared excitement."

The shop is divided into three zones: a community lounge, a card pack bar, and a breaking studio where collectors can film themselves ripping open new packs on camera. The grand opening runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 16.

Love, who grew up in Lake Oswego, starred at Lake Oswego High School and finished as Oregon's all-time leading scorer in boys' basketball with 2,628 points.

He was childhood friends and Little League teammates with Golden State's Klay Thompson before being drafted fifth overall in 2008. He won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and most recently played for the Utah Jazz.

The Alley also holds status as a Topps Authorized Direct Partner, giving the shop direct access to products from one of the hobby's most established brands. Fanatics, which acquired Topps in 2022, closed new direct-partner applications for hobby shops in January 2026, making the designation harder for new stores to obtain.

Soong called the Topps partnership a milestone and said the shop aims to serve collectors who want a trusted local destination for the hobby. More information is available at TheAlleyCC.com.
