Sharon Meieran is running for Multnomah County chair in the November 3, 2026, general election. The county’s official ballot lists Shannon Singleton, Julia Brim-Edwards and Sharon Meieran for a four-year term in the nonpartisan ranked-choice contest.
Background and priorities
Meieran identifies her work as founder of Fixing Multnomah County and a doctor with Portland Street Medicine. Her background includes service as the District 1 county commissioner and as an emergency room physician.
She lists medical training at the University of California, San Francisco; a law degree from UCSF School of Law; and undergraduate degrees in economics and English from UC Berkeley.
Meieran’s statement argues that county government needs clearer plans, specific goals and accountability for spending. She links her interest in the office to treating people affected by addiction, mental illness, abuse and neglect.
She describes leadership with the Oregon College of Emergency Physicians and work on opioid misuse and ambulance services. These are her own descriptions of her experience and record.
The background and positions above come from the candidate’s own statement in the official November 2026 voters’ pamphlet (page M-33). Election officials publish candidate statements as submitted and do not verify their claims.
