A Vietnamese coffee café named for its owners' parents opened July 25 in East Portland's Parkrose Heights neighborhood, filling a storefront vacant since April 2025.
Two Roosters, at 11937 NE Halsey St., serves specialty Vietnamese iced coffee drinks and Asian-inspired snacks out of an 18-seat space that previously housed Asia Tour & Travel, a travel agency dissolved in April 2025 according to Oregon Secretary of State records.
Co-owners Khang Duong and Jun Robles said they chose the name to honor their parents, who were both born in the Year of the Rooster.
"We wanted to open and celebrate our own Asian American experience through coffee, food and community," the owners told Bridgetown Bites.
The pair originally considered opening a noodle shop before settling on a café, which they saw as more approachable and manageable.
What's on the menu
The drink list centers on Cà Phê Phin, Vietnamese drip-filter coffee brewed with Vietnamese beans. Options range from straight black to Cà Phê Sữa Đá with sweetened condensed milk, a coconut-milk dairy-free version, and cream-topped varieties in flavors including custard and black sesame. A Dirty Rico blends coffee with Coco Rico coconut soda, and a POG cream soda mixes passion fruit, orange and guava juice with club soda and sweet cream.
Food so far includes Mochi Rice Krispie Treats in black sesame or mango with li hing mui, and Kaya Toast made with pressed croissant, coconut pandan custard and butter.
The entire current menu is iced. Duong and Robles plan to add warm drinks and expand food options in fall 2026.
The space
The café sits on the north side of NE Halsey near Gateway Breakfast House and Taipei Noodle Haus, with a small off-street parking lot out front. Inside, a large wooden banquette lines one wall with red chairs and tables opposite. The counter and a commercial Cà Phê Phin setup sit toward the back; an espresso machine is on-site and expected to come online soon.
Bridgetown Bites editor Meg Cotner, who visited the café Aug. 16, reported steady foot traffic and a group of six customers gathered together.
Two Roosters is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the café's Instagram page. The owners said they plan to grow the menu heading into fall 2026.
